Information regarding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s regulations that apply to passengers traveling with lithium ion and lithium metal batteries is provided below. These “carry-on” provisions prohibit passengers from placing spare (loose) lithium ion and lithium metal batteries in checked baggage.
