The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently published new regulations that apply to passengers traveling with lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries.  These new "carry-on" provisions prohibit passengers from placing spare (loose) lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries in checked baggage.  Some lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries may be placed in carry-on baggage provided passengers meet certain requirements.  (Nearly all consumer-type lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries may be placed in carry-on baggage.)

PRBA has prepared the Guide below to help passengers better understand these carry-on provisions.  Additional information also is available from the U.S. DOT's SafeTravel website at http://safetravel.dot.gov/whats_new_batteries.html.
